Yesterday, Johnny Cupcakes made his tour stop in Dallas, TX. We Are 1976 hosted Johnny’s pop-up shop and Society Bakery supplied the treats! We Are 1976 is run by Vynsie Law and her brother, Derek Law.

Their shop is filled with custom, locally-made prints, specialty designs, graphic novels, apparel, home accessories, and TOYS! Punch – the half-dauschand + half-chihuahua – also helps hold down the shop.
I was so excited for the night (Johnny Cupcakes wasn’t scheduled until 8PM), that when I made my drive-by around 2PM, I went ahead and set up my lawn chair.
I joined four guys already waiting in line – they’d arrived at 10AM. As the afternoon stretched on, Vynsie and crew supplied us early birds with cardboard and packaging tape to construct a shade structure! We also received a couple doses of fruit slushis!
I held strong in the intense sunlight and met a few good kids from Dallas — one was a foreigner from Paris, France and he didn’t have an accent! We talked music (MC Solaar) and event talked about…health care!
Slowly, but surely, more and more fans started to arrive at the shop. Just as I was ready to take a nap, Johnny drove by!
A little bit later, he parked at the shop at began setting up inside.
It was like getting to meet Santa Claus all over again.
I told myself I would only buy one shirt, but I certainly bought more than that!
After my visit with Johnny, I hung around for another hour and chatted with other fans in line, some of my fellow students from Denton, and LoyalKNG!
Sadly, I left before I could meet up with Fur Face Boy, but I did see a lot of kids repping his shirts — that Boy is coming up! All in all, the night was pretty tasty. Johnny was 100% what I expected – kind, goofy, and inspiring. I sincerely thank him for his stop in Dallas. I also thank We Are 1976 for doing it right and for the special “Baker’s Dozen” gift! I’ll definitely be visiting the shop again soon!
